How we work

Useful advice should show its limits.

We aim to explain what is reversible, what can go wrong, what it may cost and what to check before starting.

Research and sourcing

For product-specific claims, prefer current manufacturer instructions or support documentation. For tenancy matters, use official government, regulator or recognised legal-aid resources for the relevant jurisdiction. Retailer listings can help identify a current model or price but should not replace safety or legal sources.

Costs and reversibility

Each project guide should distinguish an estimate from a quote, state currency and assumptions, and describe likely extra costs. The reversibility score (1–5) is a planning aid based on commitment and removal complexity—not a promise of no damage.

First-hand experience

We label photos, measurements, actual prices, installation observations and removal tests only when they have been collected. Where real-world checks remain outstanding, the page should state this instead of implying an experiment was completed.

Safety and legal boundaries

General guidance does not override a lease, manufacturer instructions, building rules or local law. Fixed wiring, plumbing, structural work, fire safety and hazardous conditions should be referred to the landlord or a suitably qualified professional.

Corrections and AI-assisted work

Tools may assist with drafting and organisation, but factual claims, links, calculations and citations must be independently checked. We do not publish invented statistics, fabricated test results, invented quotes or unverified credentials. When a material error is confirmed, we correct or clarify it. Send evidence using the Contact page.

Commercial independence

Affiliate relationships, advertising and sponsorships should be disclosed. Commercial relationships must not determine project scores or prevent us from including relevant downsides.
